To ensure good quality food fish, the parent needs to provide superior because of the superior parent will result in improved seed as well. Superior stem and seeds can be obtained from BBI or the People's Hatchery Unit (UPR). In Banyumas, mother superior by the local BBI classified into four main criteria are seeded 1, seeded 2, seeded 3 and 4 that differentiated superior based on spawning frequency and number of eggs produced. Providing superior parent by BBI to ensure the quality of the parent that is maintained by farmers which in turn affects the production of eggs and juvenile fish. To improve the quality of the resulting parent is the parent of genetic improvement through crossbreeding (cross breeding) to ensure growth and high resistance to disease, and not allowed marriage one instance (in breeding).
